Factors to Put Restrictions on Cervical Cancer Screening
Lee Seong-Ran

Abstract
It has been known that cervical cancer screening and detection considerably reduces the death rate of women due to the cervical cancer. However, many cervical cancer patients see doctors to miss opportunities for early detection before they have particular symptoms. This is because of poor knowledge for preventive medicine. So this article focuses on how many women recognize the importance of the cervical cancer screening, and how they learn from, and how often they take early cervical cancer for the detection. To identify the factors associated with participation in the cervical cancer screening, 500 women from 2 areas were surveyed using questionnaires from April 2 to April 30, 2001. All the data were analyzed by SAS package program. The survey results show that most of women recognize the importance of the cervical cancer screening through the mass media but most of women are reluctant to take clinical examination for the cervical cancer screening unless they have any symptom like severe vaginal discharge or bleeding. In particular, it is investigated in this work that the practice and recognition rate for the importance of the cervical cancer screening is higher for rich, well-educated and married women than poor, poor-educated and unmarried women.
